Broughton recruitment drive for massive US deal
The Daily Post reports that several hundred jobs could be created at the Airbus plant at Broughton, near Chester, after a massive deal to supply wings for US military refuelling aircraft.
Airbus parents EADS teamed up with American defence contractor Northrop Grumman to beat American rival manufacturer Boeing to the near £20 billion order for 179 USAF tanker jets. Work on the wings, worth around £3 billion, will be carried out at Broughton and a sister Airbus plant near Bristol, before the wings are shipped out to Mobile, Alabama, for final assembly of the airborne tankers.
